Rosario Dawson in Talks to Star in New Mutants

The X-Men spinoff has found its Dr. Cecilia Reys and Sunspot. By Jonathon Dornbush The New Mutants cast continues to expand, with two new roles being filled in the upcoming X-Men spinoff film. IGN can confirm Rosario Dawson, who stars as Claire Temple in Marvel’s Netflix series, including Daredevil, Luke Cage, and The Defenders, is in talks to star as Dr. Cecilia Reyes in the Fox X-Men film. IGN can also confirm that Henry Zaga, who starred as Brad in Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why, will star as the mutant Sunspot in the film. Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple in Daredevil Dawson’s Reyes, a doctor who has the ability to produce a protective bio-field around herself, will act in a mentor capacity to the titular New Mutants team, which director Josh Boone recently described as “a full-fledged horror film set within the X-Men universe.” Sunspot, meanwhile, a mutant Boone has previously teased as a member of the team, has the ability to harness and then use solar energy via his super strength. 13 Reasons Why’s Henry Zaga Dawson and Zaga would join Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams and The Witch’s Anya Taylor-Joy, who recently boarded the film as Wolfsbane and Magik, respectively. Rick, Morty, Mr. Meeseeks, and more make an appearance. By Jonathon Dornbush Dark Horse Comics’ upcoming The Art of Rick and Morty will have a special glow-in-the dark cover, and IGN has your exclusive first look. Coming September 12 for $39.99 the 224-page art book includes never-before-seen concept art, process pieces, illustration, and commentary from the creators. Tom Hardy to Star in Venom Movie

Sony’s Venom releases October 5, 2018. By Jonathon Dornbush Tom Hardy will star as Eddie Brock in Venom, with Zombieland’s Ruben Fleischer set to direct. IGN can confirm Hardy’s involvement as Brock in the film from Sony’s Marvel Universe, which will be released on October 5, 2018. Production will start this fall. Tom Hardy, who will star as Eddie Brock/Venom Venom will be the first film debuting Sony’s bid to build out its own Marvel Universe, despite Sony’s unique deal with Marvel Studios to include Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is not a spinoff from the existing MCU films. Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts discussed how the films won’t be connected earlier this year. And Sony’s Marvel Universe will reportedly include a Black Cat/Silver Sable film. Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and Amy Pascal are producing the film, with Palak Patel and Eric Fineman overseeing for Columbia Pictures. Splatoon 2 Single Player Mode Revealed

Check out the first footage and screenshots of Splatoon 2’s campaign. By Jonathon Dornbush At the end of its Arms-focused Direct, Nintendo revealed a brand new look at Splatoon 2, highlighting the single player campaign with a new trailer. Check out the first Splatoon 2 single player mode footage below: For a closer look at what to expect in the campaign, Nintendo also released a host of high-res screenshots from the solo mode, in addition to some new concept art for the campaign. First Hellboy Reboot Promo Poster Revealed

Rise of the Blood Queen is aiming for a 2018 release. By Jonathon Dornbush The first promotional art for the upcoming Hellboy reboot film has been revealed. IGN can reveal the promo art, drawn by Hellboy artist Mike Mignola, which is current on display at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival in France. The art includes the film’s current working title, Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen. Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen Promo Art Word of the Hellboy reboot first broke last week, when Mignola revealed that The Descent director Neil Marshall was on board to helm the film with Stranger Things star David Harbour taking on the title role. The reboot is reportedly aiming for an R-rating and a horror movie style, and has the working title Rise of the Blood Queen. In the Hellboy comics, the “Queen of Blood” is a powerful British witch, also known as The Lady of the Lake. As the art and previous reports indicates, the film is aiming for a 2018 release. New Assassin's Creed, Far Cry Coming Within the Next Year

The Crew 2, South Park: The Fractured But Whole are also on the way. By Jonathon Dornbush Ubisoft has revealed that it plans to release four major titles in the next fiscal year, which will include the return of Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. As part of its 2017 fiscal year earnings report, Ubisoft confirmed that both Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry will return in the 2017-2018 fiscal year release window, which runs from April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018. South Park: The Fractured But Whole and The Crew are also set to return in that timeframe, with a sequel for the latter confirmed. “In 2017-18 we will see the exciting returns of Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, The Crew and South Park,” CEO Yves Guillemot said in a statement. No details about what those returns will be were revealed as part of the earnings report. A recent leak, however, appeared to offer players a first glimpse at the next major Assassin’s Creed game, which reports suggest will take place in Egypt. Prey PC Players Reporting Game-Breaking Issues

Publisher Bethesda Softworks is “actively working” to provide an update to the problems. By Jonathon Dornbush A few days after its release, a number of users, including IGN’s reviews editor, have reported encountering game-breaking save issues and other problems in Arkane Studios’ Prey. IGN’s Dan Stapleton, who posted his Prey review in progress last week, encountered a bug 30 hours into the game that has corrupted his last few saves. Those saves either crash after being loaded and attempting to move into a new area or present him with an error message saying “Save game incompatible with current game version.” Prey error message, via Dan Stapleton A statement from a Bethesda Softworks representative provided to IGN said “We are looking into the issues that people are experiencing, and are actively working to provide an update to address them.  We ask that if you are encountering issues, please report them on our support group website.” Save crashes have been reported by a number of users on the game’s Steam page as well. Nintendo Switch Operating System Details Leak

Storage space, menu music, and more reportedly revealed. By Jonathon Dornbush A new YouTube video showcases more of the Nintendo Switch‘s user interface, including its menus, the process for creating a new system user, and more. A video uploaded by hiphoptherobot posted to NeoGAF apparently reveals the Switch from its start-up out of the box through the process of creating an account on the system and scanning through the system’s settings. Among the notable aspects of the video is the system’s revealed internal storage space, which is listed as only 25.9 GB. Nintendo has previously said the system will have 32 GB of internal memory — though Nintendo has said the Switch will support up to 2TB Micro SDXC cards — so this video could be an indication of the amount of space the operating system takes up in the system. E3 2017: Microsoft Conference Date and Time Announced

The Xbox briefing is moving to a new day and time. By Jonathon Dornbush Microsoft has announced the date and time of its E3 2017 press conference, revealing the company has shifted to a new day for its briefing. The Xbox E3 press briefing will take place on Sunday, June 11 at 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California. Microsoft announced the time via the Xbox Twitter account, simply saying “Brace for big news.” The Xbox E3 2017 briefing announcement, via @Xbox . The Sunday afternoon window breaks from the company’s traditional E3 briefing time slot, has Microsoft has normally held its conference the Monday morning of E3 over the last several years. The teaser uses the same image previously used to tout the company’s upcoming console upgrade, Project Scorpio. Last year, third party publishers EA and Bethesda held press conferences on the Sunday preceding E3 2016. McFarlane Toys Making Destiny Guardian Action Figures

More figures and role play items to come. By Jonathon Dornbush Bungie and McFarlane Toys have partnered up to create a new line of Destiny Guardian action figures. IGN can exclusively reveal the first look at the figures, which are set for a release this July, each retailing for a suggested price of $19.99. Check out the figures below: Destiny Guardian action figures McFarlane will be introducing an initial wave of toys that features the Guardian classes — Titan, Hunter, and Warlock — which will all come in window box collector packaging, featuring a Destiny-branded base. How Game Companies Are Responding to President Trump’s Immigration Ban

Bethesda, Blizzard, Devolver Digital, and more have responded to the ban. By Jonathon Dornbush President Donald Trump signed an executive order on January 27, which enacted a ban on immigrants entering the United States from seven countries for 90 days, refugees from being admitted to the country for 120 days, and Syrian refugees indefinitely. Since the travel ban, which has been in some cases referred to as a “Muslim ban” because the countries listed in the executive order have populations with a Muslim majority, several game developers and publishers have spoken out in response to the bans. Read on to find out how a host of developers and publishers, including Microsoft, Harmonix, Blizzard, and Vlambeer, have reacted to the executive order, including their stances on the order and what actions they have taken in response to it. Zelda: Breath of the Wild Master Edition Announced

A carrying case, collectible coin, CD and more will be included. By Jonathon Dornbush Nintendo has announced that two special editions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be available in addition to the standard edition of the game. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Master Edition will include the game itself, a Master Sword of Resurrection figure, as well as a Nintendo Switch Sheikah Slate Carrying Case, a Sheikah Eye Collectible Coin, a Relic of Hyrule: Calamity Ganon Tapestry and Weather-Worn Map, and a Breath of the Wild Sound Selection CD. The Master Edition will cost $129.99. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Master Edition A Special Edition of Breath of the Wild will also be available for $99.99. This version features everything in the Master Edition except for the Master Sword statue. Injustice 2 Release Date Possibly Confirmed

Ed Boon’s tease may point to a release. By Jonathon Dornbush NetherRealm Studios’ Creative Director Ed Boon may have revealed the release date for the upcoming Injustice 2, or teased something else to come regarding the game. Boon posted a photo on Twitter that simply reads “i2.05.16.17.” Boon did not accompany the image with any other text or information, however, the tweet could be pointing to a release of May 16, 2017. The NetherReal Studios account also tweeted out an image featuring the date, as well as promotional art of Batman and the Flash. via Ed Boon’s Twitter IGN has reached out to Warner Bros. and NetherRealm for confirmation on whether this is in fact the release date for the DC Universe fighting game. While the image could point to a release date for the game, it has not yet been officially confirmed that is what the image refers to. The date is in close proximity to E3, and could instead point to a live stream, WB press conference, or other potential reveal about information regarding the game. Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events Review

Share. Fortunately, these events make for a great new series. By Jonathon Dornbush The catchy theme song to Netflix’s adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events addresses the audience directly, as Neil Patrick Harris warns viewers to “look away” from the horrible proceedings about to unfold. But to skip out on the exaggerated, macabre, and meta delights of this eight-episode series would be an unfortunate event in and of itself. Bringing to life the first four books in Snicket’s (the penname of author Daniel Handler) self-aware series, Netflix’s take, which hits the service on January 13, on the horrible lives of the three Baudelaire orphans captures the hilarious, dark, and sweet tone of the books while imbuing it with an arresting visual style and charming performances. Bouncing from one caretaker to another as death and devastation follows them, the Baudelaires — Violet, Klaus, and Sunny — are constantly trying to escape Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris), their first guardian after the children’s home burns down and their parents seemingly die.
