Slowly, Treats from the Gears of War Universe Just Pour In Out now, a new Gears of War 4 update for fan veterans. This latest patch, Series 2 Collection, significantly expands multiplayer content. We get over 280 collectible cards, including iconic characters from Gears of War 3. Out of a total thirteen, four make up our “first” band of legacy characters. However, there’s more in this latest patch. Additionally, two fan-favorite maps have been re-imagined. “Blending together the best of Gears 2’s original take and the Gears 3’s re-imagining,” we get the Gears 4 version of Blood Drive. Battle through pillars and along city streets, where open terrain leads to longshot firefights. Then we have the classical Clocktower re-imagined. It is now the Bank of Bronn, where players can reacquaint themselves with turkey shoots at the bank entrance. Otherwise, fight on the low streets for control of the center, in what will inevitably lead to back and forth chainsaw kills. Both maps are currently available for Season Pass holders, and everyone on January 17. On top of that, The Coalition wants to give Season Pass holders more for their buck: Today, they announced sixty random cards from Series 2 Characters and Weapon Skins. This new Airdrop comes January 13, in conjunction with Bounty Gear…

I didn’t become personally acquainted with the Gears of War franchise until late last year when I purchased an Xbox One along with a copy of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. Even though this game was nearly ten years old at the time, I had more fun playing it than I did with most of 2015’s releases. I eventually played through Gears of War 2 and 3 and thoroughly enjoyed those as well (though I will admit that the first game is my favorite out of the original trilogy). I arrived late to the party, but I was now a big fan of the series. Like many others out there, I eagerly anticipated the release of Gears of War 4. The game released yesterday (though some did get early access to it last Friday) and I managed to play through most of it. I already knew I was going to like Gears of War 4, but after playing all the way up to the beginning of the final act, I can now safely say that it is not only a strong entry in the franchise but easily the best Xbox game released this generation. Fans of Microsoft’s gaming division have…
The Xbox One has enjoyed a pretty decent year so far with the release of Quantum Break, ReCore, and Forza Horizon 3. While only the latter of those has met with critical and commercial success, the company is today releasing a title that is sure to be a hit and may even help push some consoles out of the door. What game is that? It’s Gears of War 4, of course. It has been a few years since we’ve gotten a new, main-line Gears game (sorry, Judgement) and the excitement for this title is understandably high. Pure cover-based shooters are a rare thing these days so it is refreshing to have a game that goes back to basics. Even though Gears of War 4 will deliver the sort of experience that fans of the franchise expect, it will also have a good amount of new features which should keep it from being another stale retread (again, I’m looking at you, Judgement). Gears of War 4 has a lot going on for it, but here are the top five reasons why Xbox One and PC gamers should be excited for the game. 1. New friends, new enemies Previous Gears games focused on…
