GTA Online Gets the “Massive” Gunrunning Update in June

Calling it a “massive new update” where the Southern San Andreas’ illegal weapons trafficking industry rises to the surface, Rockstar Games has announced that the Gunrunning update for Grand Theft Auto Online will arrive in June. Here’s what Rockstar had to say about the Gunrunning update: Dotted throughout Blaine County are hatches – look into these mysterious properties on the Maze Bank Foreclosure site and you’ll find sprawling underground headquarters for sale, ready to be stocked with new military grade vehicles and weapons manufacturing equipment capable of developing highly sought after offensive and defensive technologies. As the residents of Los Santos know, the only thing more fun than crime is profit and should you choose to invest in this new business, some extremely shady customers are ready to pay top dollar for what you can deliver. Expect details on the business and research opportunities, full-service Mobile Operation Centers complete with new weapon upgrades and deep customization, all new Weaponized Vehicles, and more included in Gunrunning soon. As announced earlier this week, Grand Theft Auto V has reached 80 million copies sold since launch in 2013. [Source: Rockstar Games] READ FULL STORY AT PLAYSTATIONLIFESTYLE!

Take-Two: Grand Theft Auto V Is at 75 Million Shipped, Red Dead Redemption at 15 Million

During the Take-Two earnings call yesterday, CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed that Grand Theft Auto V has now shipped over 75 million copies across all platforms since launch in September 2013. It was at 70 million as of November 2016. “Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online continue to outperform our expectations as they have in every quarter since their release,” Zelnick said. He later added that Rockstar Games has “many more” updates planned for GTA Online, which saw a record number of players in December 2016. Take-Two also said in the call that NBA 2K17 is nearing seven million copies shipped (up 10% over NBA 2K16), and they think it’s “poised to become our highest selling sports title ever.” During the Q&A section of the call, numerous people asked about Red Dead Redemption 2. After revealing that Red Dead Redemption is “around 15 million units” lifetime right now, Zelnick talked about how he doesn’t think Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto V’s online modes will compete with each other: […] I’m fond of saying entertainment is an unusual animal. And that entertainment properties don’t really compete with other entertainment properties and that you never need entertainment. Entertainment is something that you want to have, but it’s not a need READ FULL…

GTAV Short Film Stars the Real Trevor

With PlayStation VR being released tomorrow, virtual reality has been on most gamers’ minds as of late. Though some are skeptical of VR gaming, it is hard to deny that it holds a lot of promise, especially if it can effectively transport us into our favorite gaming landscapes. But what happens if we enter a dangerous game world full of dangerous and volatile characters? This exact scenario is the basis for a new short film where a gamer who puts on the world’s most advanced VR headset gets to meet Grand Theft Auto V’s Trevor face to face. Trevor was voiced by and modeled after actor Steven Ogg who appears in this film. Though Trevor is the stand out character of GTAV, I doubt any sane person would actually want to hang out with him due to how unpredictable and violent he is. In this (extremely NSFW) film, a gamer sees what it is like to spend some time with Trevor inside of a simulated Los Santos. The results are exactly what you would expect.
