Kingdom Hearts III Celebrates Final Fantasy VII 20th Anniversary

Today is Final Fantasy VII’s 20th anniversary as well as the 30th anniversary of the entire franchise and part of Square Enix’s celebration included releasing key artwork for the upcoming and highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake earlier today. The celebrations did not end there though as the people behind the company’s other big project, Kingdom Hearts III, also commemorated the event by posting a new screenshot from the game on the Kingdom Hearts official Twitter account. The screenshot shows the game’s protagonist Sora from behind looking up at a large tower. The image is reminiscent and is an obvious tribute to the original and iconic Final Fantasy VII key artwork that showed Cloud wielding his Buster Sword looking up at Shinra tower. While Cloud has appeared in previous Kingdom Hearts games before, there’s no indication that the character will make an appearance in Kingdom Hearts III and that the screenshot is nothing more than a celebratory gesture. Funnily enough, Kingdom Hearts III and the Final Fantasy VII remake are both games from Square Enix that have no set release dates. But with Kingdom Hearts also celebrating an anniversary later this year, it’s possible that Square Enix may unveil some…

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD: Final Chapter Prologue Review – Still Terrible Titles (PS4)

Square Enix seems to enjoy abusing their Kingdom Hearts fans. In order to get the full story behind the game, you need to purchase all of the various sequels that appear on various devices. Some were on PS2, one was on the Gameboy Advanced, two made their way to the DS, one to the 3DS, two to mobile, and one to the PSP. Do note that none of these were “official” sequels to the series, but offshoots that were crucial to understanding the main line of games. If you were brand loyal to the PlayStation, well, you had to wait until the 1.5 and 2.5 ReMixes in order to play most of them. Even then, the DS titles weren’t playable and were only presented as movies of their cut scenes. It’s hard being a Kingdom Hearts fan at times, and it requires a lot of patience. We’re still waiting for Kingdom Hearts III. We’re tired of these offshoots, even though they are fun. Who knows when KH3 will grace us with its presence, but in the meantime, here’s another port/offshoot compilation called (wait for it) Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD: Final Chapter Prologue. It contains a port of the 3DS game Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance (it’s 3 Ds…as in READ…

Nomura: Final Fantasy VII Remake & Kingdom Hearts III Still Have a Way to Go

In the latest issue of Famitsu this week, director Tetsuya Nomura revealed that the wait for Final Fantasy VII Remake and Kingdom Hearts III will be a bit longer, but he hopes to share more details on each at some point this year. Asked about the state of Kingdom Hearts III’s development (translated by Gematsu), Nomura said there is still some ways to go: While I can’t make a sweeping statement because the development process is different from what we’ve done so far, there are still worlds untouched. Production is progressing on unannounced worlds, in a state that we cannot show them off. In terms of the state of development, there is still some way to go. Asked the same question about Final Fantasy VII Remake, Nomura said we’ll have to wait a bit longer for both games because he wants to make sure they meet our expectations: We’re steadily progressing on production. While we are making them, I apologize that the wait will be a bit longer for Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake. I am very sorry, but to that degree I will make a game that will meet your expectations. Last year, I didn’t put out much information on either title, READ FULL STORY AT…

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 on PS4 Have the Same Content as the PS3 Versions

[embedded content] When Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix and Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix come to PlayStation 4 in March as part of the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix, they won’t have any additional content over the PlayStation 3 versions. Asked by Dengeki Online about any possible changes to the 1.5 + 2.5 Remix, Director Tetsuya Nomura said (translated by Google Translate): The contents are the same as the two HD remaster in the past. Because six games are recorded on one game disc of PS4, it is easier to play. Back when Square Enix brought the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster to PS4, they added cross-save functionality and the ability to switch between the original and remastered music in Final Fantasy X. The final box art for the Remix hasn’t been revealed by Square Enix yet, but Nomura says you shouldn’t expect any changes from the PS3 versions: I do not think so. Because three illustrations are connected to KH 1.5, KH 2.5, KH 2.8 packages, meaning will not connect if you draw newly. Those who think, ‘What?’, please arrange three illustrations and see the poses and background of Sora. The 1.5 + 2.5 Remix is priced at $49.99 USD, includes everything on one disc, and will have 60 frames-per-second gameplay. Here’s…
