King Is Bringing Us More Bubble Witch with a Third Game Out Now

King’s bubble-popping extravaganza Bubble Witch Saga rides again with its third release that’s out now: Bubble Witch 3 Saga. It’s available via the Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon App Store, and Facebook for you to snatch up right now for all your bubble-bursting pleasure. If you’ve ever played Bust-A-Move, you’ll be right at home here. The original Bubble Witch Saga and its sequel were puzzlers where you’re given one colored bubble after another to aim at even more bubbles suspended at the top of the screen. You need to match three or more of a kind to burst the bubbles and clear them from the play area. This is accomplished via precise aiming with the touch screen, and strategic bouncing of colored bubbles against the “walls” of the play area. If you play your cards right, you can collapse an entire cache of bubbles with a well-placed shot. They’ll rain down in a shower of color, and at the end of each level, they’ll randomly bounce into pots that collect them for points totally onto your score. Bubble Witch 3 Saga includes an older main character (Stella) who’s been possessed by READ FULL STORY AT GEEK!

China Says They Won't Allow Pokémon Go Because It's Too Dangerous

The chances of playing Pokémon Go in China look slim. The Chinese state censor said that augmented reality games like Pokémon Go will not be licensed until they could assess potential security risks. Advertisement As reported by Reuters, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television is citing “a high level of responsibility to national security and the safety of people’s lives and property” as their chief concerns surrounding Pokémon Go. Until risks can be assessed, they will not license the game in their territory and eager fans will not be able to purchase the game. Among the risks the censor states as a concern is the “threat to geographical information security and the threat to transport and the personal safety of consumers.” City Elves Go is a Chinese title that tracks player location. Augmented reality games like Pokémon Go ask that players navigate the real world to achieve their goals. In the case of Pokémon Go, this has lead to car crashes, apparent muggings, and dead bodies. In the early days of the game, swarms of people were known to go stampeding after pokémon. READ FULL STORY AT KOTAKU!

Despite Super Mario Run’s Successful Launch, Nintendo’s Stocks Plunge

The much hyped Super Mario Run was finally released on the Apple App Store yesterday to great success. On just its first day, the mobile game was downloaded 2.85 million times. This beats out Pokemon Go‘s 900,000 day-one downloads. Despite making App store history with record-breaking download numbers, Super Mario Run‘s success hasn’t made Nintendo’s shareholders happy as the company’s shares have plummeted by $2 billion. There are several reasons why Nintendo’s investors are wary about the future success of Super Mario Run. One of the main reasons is the game’s price. The most expensive mobile games on the market usually top out at $5 but Super Mario Run costs double that at $10. The game is free to download, but it can only make a substantial profit if folks buy the full $10 version. There is also the fact that the game cannot be played without being connected to the internet via WiFi. [embedded content] Then, of course, there are the early negative reviews to consider. While most reviewers liked that an official Super Mario Bros game was available on the App Store, they have criticized Super Mario Run‘s high price point, its always-online nature, and how its mechanics…

Man Spends $1 Million of Stolen Money on Game of War

The ironic thing about free-to-play games is that players tend to spend a great deal of real-world money on them via microtransactions. While some folks can go overboard with how much money they put into a mobile game, most tend to keep themselves in check and not go wild. But what would happen if a player had near limitless funds? How much could a person actually spend on a free-to-play game? We now have an answer to this question. A forty-five-year-old man named Kevin Co from Sacramento, California recently plead guilty to fraudulently using company credit cards to steal $4.8 million from his employer, Holt California. He spent $1 million of the stolen funds on Game of War (a game made famous thanks to commercials featuring Kate Upton and Mariah Carey showing a healthy amount of cleavage). The game brings in an average of $1.6 million a day thanks to all of its users, but Co managed to spend that same amount of money all by himself. [embedded content] As for what Co spent the rest of the stolen money on, he used the company card to purchase expensive cars, plastic surgery, a golf course membership at the exclusive Whitney Oaks Gold…

The Search for the Puuuurrfect Shuffle Cat

Wiley Coyote Super Genius King Digital Entertainment have basically cornered the market on mobile games. The aptly named company is responsible for creating a candy kingdom greater than Princess Bubblegum’s. Departing from the Candy Crush empire King is venturing into a fuzzier fancier realm. A modern and easier take on Rummy taught to you by sophisticated and adorable cats, what’s not to love?! King knew the only way to make the game even cuter was to have an actual cat ambassador for the game. Last week in NYC they did just that. After an exhaustive nationwide search, four fine felines were selected to be finalists in selecting the face of Shuffle Cats.  Wiley Coyote, Jetta, Tigger, and Booger all strutted the stuff down the caaaatwalk as their humans answered questions about why they deserve to be a bonafide Shuffle Cat. The lovely Hannah Simone (of New Girl fame, we love you CeCe!) was a wonderful host/emcee as she is a crazy cat lady. Who knew?! [embedded content] The whole afternoon was quite the event.
