Calling it a “massive new update” where the Southern San Andreas’ illegal weapons trafficking industry rises to the surface, Rockstar Games has announced that the Gunrunning update for Grand Theft Auto Online will arrive in June. Here’s what Rockstar had to say about the Gunrunning update: Dotted throughout Blaine County are hatches – look into these mysterious properties on the Maze Bank Foreclosure site and you’ll find sprawling underground headquarters for sale, ready to be stocked with new military grade vehicles and weapons manufacturing equipment capable of developing highly sought after offensive and defensive technologies. As the residents of Los Santos know, the only thing more fun than crime is profit and should you choose to invest in this new business, some extremely shady customers are ready to pay top dollar for what you can deliver. Expect details on the business and research opportunities, full-service Mobile Operation Centers complete with new weapon upgrades and deep customization, all new Weaponized Vehicles, and more included in Gunrunning soon. As announced earlier this week, Grand Theft Auto V has reached 80 million copies sold since launch in 2013. [Source: Rockstar Games] READ FULL STORY AT PLAYSTATIONLIFESTYLE!

Late last year, RockStar Games announced Red Dead Redemption 2. At the time, the company stated the game would be released in the fall of 2017. Anyone who knows the history of RockStar’s releases knows the company often delays their titles. It should come as no surprise then that Red Dead Redemption 2 will not be coming to consoles this holiday. “Red Dead Redemption 2 is now set to launch Spring 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One,” said RockStar on its website. “This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans.” The company went on to say: “We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready. We are really excited to bring you more details about the game this summer.” RockStar is in an enviable position. Unlike a lot of other developers, the company can take as much time as it needs READ FULL STORY…

Red Dead Redemption released seven years ago today and remains a triumph. The tale of John Marston’s failure might be Rockstar’s finest story. SPOILERS AHEAD A spiritual sequel to 2004 shooter Red Dead Revolver, Red Dead Redemption traded curated levels for a vast open world. The wild west setting was distinct, full of warm sunlight and boundless plains that made it exciting to navigate. But it wasn’t the gunfights, the horses, or the various side activities that made the game great. It was the story itself. Seeking to rescue his wife and son from the clutches of the government, former outlaw John Marston sets out to take down members of his old gang. The first thing he does is get shot right in the chest as he tries to negotiate their surrender to the government. Advertisement It’s a moment that sets the tone for the entire game. Nothing lasts and Red Dead Redemption’s strength comes in the acknowledgement of that fact. It starts when John hunts down a READ FULL STORY AT KOTAKU!
During the Take-Two earnings call yesterday, CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed that Grand Theft Auto V has now shipped over 75 million copies across all platforms since launch in September 2013. It was at 70 million as of November 2016. “Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online continue to outperform our expectations as they have in every quarter since their release,” Zelnick said. He later added that Rockstar Games has “many more” updates planned for GTA Online, which saw a record number of players in December 2016. Take-Two also said in the call that NBA 2K17 is nearing seven million copies shipped (up 10% over NBA 2K16), and they think it’s “poised to become our highest selling sports title ever.” During the Q&A section of the call, numerous people asked about Red Dead Redemption 2. After revealing that Red Dead Redemption is “around 15 million units” lifetime right now, Zelnick talked about how he doesn’t think Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto V’s online modes will compete with each other: […] I’m fond of saying entertainment is an unusual animal. And that entertainment properties don’t really compete with other entertainment properties and that you never need entertainment. Entertainment is something that you want to have, but it’s not a need READ FULL…

You can now snag the “uber-customizable” Pegassi FCR 1000, which the developer describes as follows: This fully-featured beaut of a bike treads the fine line between old-school, no-frills engineering and a tight-trousered hipster’s delight. [embedded content] Just like they did with Activision and Call of Duty, Sony has signed a partnership with Rockstar Games for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PlayStation 4. The partnership has already begun, as the new trailer revealed today was captured on PS4. With Sony’s John Koller saying there’s “no better place to play” Red Dead Redemption 2 than on PlayStation, he adds that it’s “hand crafted to take full advantage of PS4.” Also, thanks to the partnership, “PS4 players get first access to earn select online content in the vast open world of Red Dead Redemption 2.” If a newly registered domain is anything to go by, Red Dead Redemption 2’s “brand new online multiplayer experience” will be called Red Dead Online, similar to how Grand Theft Auto V’s online multiplayer is called Grand Theft Auto Online. To help kill the time until Red Dead Redemption 2 releases in fall 2017, the original Red Dead Redemption will be available on PlayStation Now “soon,” letting you play it on PS4, PS3, PS Vita, PC, and more. Check back on PlayStation.Blog for more details soon and for all of the latest information on Red Dead Redemption 2.” We also learn that the original Red Dead Redemtion will come to PlayStation Now “soon.” I guess we have come to a point in which a not better specified marketing partnership granting access to unspecified online content are announced a full year before a game is even touching our consoles.
